The untouchables, the we-have-it-alls. Money talks, that's what they say. They seem like the happiest individuals on the planet. If you were analyzing these people, what would you come up with? That these people have a grandiose vision of themselves... basically, what they're doing is compensating for all their insecurities by hiding it under a cloak of wealth.
What is Capitalism?
In my humble opinion, capitalism is the exploitation of man BY man. In this society that we exist in, we are a society that makes one another sick. Almost 60% of Pakistan is diseased... whether it's blood pressure, cancer, diabetes etc and according to the medical/clinical module these people are just "unfortunate" because in the medical world, mental health and physical health do not collide and the mind is ultimately separated from the body, therefore there is no clear conclusion as to how these diseases even occurred. Secondly, it separates man from his own body, having no clear indication and blaming his cancer simply on "bad luck".
Don't smoke too much, you'll get lung cancer.
I am sure you have heard that a lot. I wish we lived in a society that made us understand that it's not the cigarette that's killing you, but the emotional dependence that is. Within the age of developed medicine and scientific discoveries, man has forgotten how he functions, how his body will react to certain things and most importantly, how his brain will take into account everything around him. We have lost the power to feel and function; isolation of the brain is now one of the major reasons disease is more common. Lifebuoy is wrong, germs aren't getting stronger... your brain is getting accustomed to DEPENDENCY.
Now, these behaviors are socially implemented and scientifically debunked. This is because ancient forms of medicine which reinforced that the mind and body were connected e.g. Shamanic healing, Buddhist practice and Indian Ayurveda medicine have been completely removed from modern medicine. So my practice, which is indeed backed up by science, brings back light onto grounding and using mind and body practice to achieve a state of zen. A state of nirvana.
Disease is also a creation of social class. People have blamed diseases on genetics... Why is it that America has the highest rate of prostate cancer? Why do Pakistani women from middle to lower class origins have a higher rate of miscarriages? That's not a genetic query, but a social question. If we come down to auto-immune diseases, why has autism become such a norm? It has increased massively in industrial communities. You aren't autistic, and neither is autism a genetic disorder. If it was genetic somehow, how has it all changed in a matter of 40-50 years? Our ancestors ate mud and here you are with your Keto diet and eco-friendly car... still suffering.
Addictions are growing everyday and people say that it's a "choice". Your criminal justice system can arrest someone for possession of drugs or alcohol because it's a "choice". People say drugs are addictive and sometimes blame your likeness for drugs to genes. If drugs were addictive, why do so many people try a drug once or twice and never do it again? Most people who smoke don't become nicotine addicts, most people who drink alcohol don't become alcoholics. The real question is why are drugs addictive to certain people? What creates a sense of acceptability? What makes them vulnerable? Why is it that soldiers in war-struck zones become addicted to a certain drug and after they return, they stop taking it?
A lot of people are abusing substances and they are questioned about it often, with many failed attempts of trying to quit... my question is, have you ever looked at their lives? Maybe look at the circumstances under which they became addicted?
Why do we recommend pregnant women to be happy and not stress out over things? It is because those stress hormones will make their way to your unborn fetus.. resulting in a child that will have a tendency to become depressed or lean towards any form of substance abuse. Our parents emotional health affects us more than you think. A child in a polluted environment is more likely to get asthma if his parents are stressed. It is just how it works, because you CANNOT separate the mind from the body no matter how modern medicine debunks it. You cannot separate the individual from the environment either, so whatever comes with the environment is another story.
If you look at the pyramid of stress, research shows that these are the most common reasons for stress in individuals:
1) Uncertainty
2) Lack of information
3) Loss of control
4) Lack of ways to express your emotions
When Karl Marx talked about freedom he talked about freedom in 4 senses of the word.
1) Freedom from economic necessity
2) Freedom from the threat to life
3) Freedom from interference of others
4) Freedom to express yourself/to be yourself
That is freedom. Now what kind of freedom are we getting in this free world we live in? We are not free from economic worry, there is a serious amount of uncertainty and lack of control involved; when people lack control over their lives, they cannot be FREE. They are physiologically stressed. If they are physiologically stressed, it will manifest onto their health in the form of disease.
When your heartbeat and blood pressure rises due to stress, your stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline fight back in the case of an acute threat but if you're chronically stressed.. it actually creates disease. Weakens your bones, suppresses your immune system, increases your blood pressure, diabetes, cancer... a whole range of health conditions.
Since dependency is the key word here, most people affected by capitalist schemes can not only be physically dependent but also emotionally. Clients grow attached to therapists by referring them to a "sibling" or a "friend" more than a practitioner. Some even refer to them as a mother, or end up falling in love with a therapist. This is common and doesn't appall any therapist. That is because in psychology, the power of a caregiver has a huge role in your mental and physical health. If you are loved and understood, listened and communicated to properly.. you are less likely to come for therapy. Or less likely to be a nicotine addict. Or less likely to be a criminal. The caregiver role is crucial in neuro and biological development and without it, a child is more likely to stray away from norms, get food allergies or get sick. Modern medicine will spike up your drugs and make you depend on medicine, while therapy will make you learn to depend on yourself. To be your authentic self. To let go of toxic behaviors that you inherited.
